Tragedy occurred in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, when a 25-year-old man was stabbed to death following a dispute over a girlfriend.
The deceased, identified as Hammed Usman Tunde, was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend, one Gafar, during an argument supposedly over a girlfriend.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Oja Gboro Quarters, Ilorin, when the two friends, said to be close companions, argued while serving a Hausa sugarcane seller.
Witness accounts revealed that the heated exchange quickly turned violent, during which the 21-year-old suspect, Gafar, allegedly stabbed Tunde in the chest with a knife.
The victim, a resident of Ile-Soro 2 in Oja Gboro, Isale Koko area of ​​Ilorin, was rushed to a nearby private hospital but was later referred to Ilorin General Hospital where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
The suspect, identified as a native of Ile Olowo in the same area, fled the scene immediately after the attack. His whereabouts, along with those of his relatives, remain unknown at the time of writing.
A family member of the deceased described the incident as heartbreaking and called on the state government and security agencies to ensure justice is done.
He described his brother as a peaceful person who did not deserve to die in such a cruel way.
The deceased was buried on Wednesday according to Islamic rites at his family home, Ile-Soro 2, Oja Gboro, Isale Koko, Ilorin.
