Monaco playmaker Cesc Fabregas has said that Lionel Messi deserves a happy ending in Barcelona.

However, he admitted that Messi needs time to consider his “very personal decision” to stay or leave the Camp Nou.

With less than a month remaining on his current contract, it is speculated that he could sign for Manchester City or PSG.

Fabregas believes his former club is on the right track to convince the legendary player to stay.

“I don’t know what Leo will do, but I hope he stays at the club,” Fabregas told Goal.

“It’s a very personal decision and let’s see how it feels and we’ll see what happens. I would like to see him play his football at Barça for many more years and be successful because he deserves it for what he has done at the club.

“I am very happy that Joan Laporta is the president. He is someone with a lot of personality. He is calm, knows what he is doing and has experience. I am very sure that it will bring the club back to where it belongs. “
