The recognized legend of the high Nigerian life, Mike Ejeagha, known for his song 'Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo' has died at the age of 95.
The veteran musician died on Friday night at 8 pm at 32 Garrison hospital in ENUGU after prolonged disease.
His death was confirmed by his eldest son, Emma Ejeagha, during a telephone conversation with journalists.
One of his most emblematic songs, “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo”, gained popularity renewed in 2024 after a viral remix of the comedian and creator of Sketter, Brain Jotter

Known for weaving moral lessons, ingenious expressions and deep proverbs in their songs, Ejeagha cultivated a basis of loyal fans in generations, particularly in southeast Nigeria.
Born on April 4, 1930, Ejeagha began his musical career in the 1950s. For more than six decades, he helped shape the narrative style and sound of Igbo language.
He obtained the national recognition in the 1970s after appearing as a guest presenter in the program of the Nigerian television authority (NTA) Akuko N'Egwu (Stories in Music), a cultural show that reflected his exclusive style of combining the narration of stories with music.
Ejeagha survives his wife, children and grandchildren.
The family is expected to release details of their funeral arrangements in the next few days.
