The Nigeria police officers attached to the Doma division have arrested a dreaded armed robbery and king of kidnapping, Mohammed Bammi, aka “Zomo”, from the village of Yelwa, which has been responsible for multiple kidnappings and robberies in the local government of Doma del Estado and its environments.
According to a statement by the command spokesman, sp. Ramhan Nansel, the suspect, escaped by little arrest last month when his gang members were arrested.
Nansel declared that luck, however, finally ran out of the suspect.
He said: “During a clearance operation in Doka Forest, Eagle’s eyes agents saw him. In an attempt desperate to evade the capture, he took out a knife to attack the officers, but was overwhelmed and arrested.” The statement reads in part.
Nansel added that after the interrogation, Zomo led the detectives to his hiding place in Alagye Village, Doma, where the following dangerous exhibitions were recovered: a bomb action rifle, Breech No. P331551, a local AK-47 rifle with the magazine, two cartridages and five cartridges, a knife and a rope, two rope manuals. The police chief revealed that in a separate sting operation, based on credible intelligence, the undercover operations attached to the astonishment command assaulted the village of Gidan Taku, Wuse Chiefdom, Awe Lga, and arrested five alleged members of a notorious kidnapped union of 10 men.
The arrested suspects include: 1. Michael Ato (M), Richard Ato (M), Alom Bernard (M), Hangior Ato (M), Jacob Hunde, also known as Okocha (m).
He said the investigations revealed that the union attended the kidnapping of the blessing John (F), by Gidan Makanta Village, Wuse.
Two AK-47 rifles manufactured locally and a live ammunition from them were recovered.
An additional investigation discovered that in April 2024, the same gang kidnapped the victim’s husband, John Ada Kuje (M), collecting rescue before liberating him.
“The police commissioner, the Nasarawa state command, praised gallant officers for their courage and professionalism, accused them of intensifying heat over criminals until the State is completely free of kidnappers and armed thieves.” Nansel added.
He added that all the suspects arrested have been transferred to the Police Anti-Kidnapping unit for greater investigation and prosecution.
