The Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ogun State, Tijjani Rabe, says that during the year 2025, no less than 6,060.72 kilograms and 2,655.75 liters of hard drugs and illicit liquid-based substances were seized.
Rabe added that 760 suspects were arrested and 316 drug users benefited from their counseling and rehabilitation interventions.
The feat was contained in a year-end press release, signed by the command’s spokesperson, Haris Musa, and made available to Newslodge on Monday.
According to the statement, 159 convictions were obtained and offenders were sentenced to various prison terms.
It says: “Operationally, the Command recorded significant successes in the fight against illicit drug activities within the State.
“A total of 760 suspects were arrested, 6,060.72 kilograms and 2,655.75 liters of hard drugs and liquid illicit substances were seized, respectively. In addition, 316 drug users benefited from counseling and rehabilitation interventions.
“In the same period, the Command obtained 159 convictions, and offenders were sentenced to various prison terms. Several other cases are currently at different stages of processing,” he stated.
The statement added that in a bid to reduce the demand for drugs, a total of 188 awareness programs on the War on Drug Abuse (WADA) were carried out, reaching more than 100,000 people across the state.
“These commitments span students, professional bodies, faith-based organizations and community development associations; they deliver clear, practical and impactful messages about the dangers of drug abuse and the benefits of prevention,” he said.
The PRO, while acknowledging several evolving challenges in its operational landscape, stated that through sustained operations, strengthened partnerships and people-centric initiatives, the command has continued to deliver its mandate with professionalism and unwavering determination.
The command reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to safeguarding communities, dismantling illicit drug networks and intensifying its operations, warning that drug traffickers and dealers will not be allowed to take advantage of the festive season.
“The Command will continue to intensify operations aimed at disrupting and decimating drug distribution chains to ensure a drug-free holiday season.
“Our commitment to safeguarding communities across Ogun State from the scourge of illicit drugs remains firm and unyielding,” the statement added.
