The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (Coren) has appointed a former National Secretary of the Congress of all Progressive (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, as president of a Committee of the Working Group for its Engineering Residence Program (ERP).
Remember that the Council had announced in early 2024 plans to implement a one -year residence program for engineering graduates to improve their skills by completing tertiary education.
To update this, the Council, in a letter of appointment signed by its registrar, Prof. Oau UU of Engr, and aimed at the former APC national scribe, revealed that the decision to appoint Omisore in that role was in an attempt to take advantage of his vast experience, exemplary leadership and consistent commitment, among others, in the engineering sector.
“I am pleased to formally inform you that at its 185th Ordinary Meeting held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (Coren) approved the Constitution and composition of the Task Group of the Engineering Residence Program on the Engineering Residence Program (ERP).
“After this approval, I am delighted to convey their appointment as president of the task group of the Engineering Residence Program. His vast experience and his exemplary leadership, and the consistent commitment, among others in the engineering sector, were the attributes considered to assign this important national allocation,” reads partly.
Continuing, Coren explained that the mandate of the task force of 24 men led by the two -period senator must serve as the main body to advance in the implementation of its engineering residence program.
“The working group is to ensure institutional support, obtain sustainable funds from various sources and advocate the integration of the ERP with the National Labor Development Policy and the Nation framework,” the statement added.

The Council continued listing the terms of reference (Tor) so that the working group includes: 1. Development of a National Defense and Implementation Strategy for the ERP; 2. Facilitate high -level commitments with public/private establishments, industries, regulatory bodies and legislative institutions; 3. Establish policy agendas and advocate for the inclusion of ERP in national development plans; 4. Leading awareness and campaign strategies through appropriate communication platforms; 5. Identify and obtain government funds, the private sector, the initiatives of the CSR and the development partners; and 6. Mobilization of the financial support of local and international donor agencies, development banks and multilateral institutions.
Coren added urging Senator Omisore and other members of the task force designated in the Engineering Residence Program to assume this task with the excellence and dedication for which it is known.
