A fatal accident on Thursday claimed the life of a yet to be identified motorcyclist following a collision between a Honda Accord and a truck at Ibafon, along the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway in Lagos.
It is learned that the accident which occurred around 11:30 am caused a temporary halt in vehicle movement as onlookers gathered in shock at the gory scene.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred when a speeding truck was overtaken by a Honda Accord, during which the motorcyclist, who was allegedly traveling against traffic, collided with the vehicle.
One of the witnesses, identified simply as Tunde, recounted the incident.
“The truck grazed the car, causing the driver to lose control. The car swerved and hit the okada driver head-on. The impact was so severe that the motorcyclist died on the spot.”
After the accident, the truck driver fled the scene, abandoning both the vehicle and the deceased.
Police officers later arrived to restore order, cordoned off the area and detained the driver of the Honda for questioning.
The victim’s remains were later evacuated from the scene.
