The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested ten (10) suspects involved in a series of armed robbery operations, drug trafficking and other crimes across the state.
A statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Shi’isu Adam, explained that the operation was carried out at the same time across the state.
He said this resulted in the arrest of a wanted armed robbery suspect and nine other suspects, while 7,028 illicit drugs were seized from them, including a rubber solution, “suck and die”, and dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
According to Adam, seven alleged drug traffickers and users were arrested: Nadabo Ibrahim (25), from Kwanar Garki; Alkassaim Sa’idu (27) from Acauya village, Sule Tankarkar LGA; Ibrahim Sambo (22), from Bitinariya neighbourhood, Hadejia LGA; Usman Abubakar (30) of Dunari Quarters; Aminu Muhd (25), from the Dunari neighborhoods; Yusuf Sale (22) of Nassarawa Quarters; and Ibrahim Ismail (23) of Marakawa Quarters, Ringim LGA.
The statement further explained that Hadejia B Division police officers also recovered a white Jincheng motorcycle that had previously been reported stolen from a complainant’s house in Rinde Quarters, Hadejia town.
He said efforts are being made to arrest the suspect or suspects in connection with the theft, while the recovered motorcycle has been returned to its rightful owner on bail.
Adam, in another development, explained: “Officers attached to Malam-Madori Division recovered two cows suspected to have been stolen from outside Dunari Quarters.”
He claimed that the suspects abandoned the cows and escaped into a nearby bush, and said efforts had been intensified to locate the rightful owner of the cows, arrest those responsible for the cattle rustling and curb livestock-related crimes in the area.
One Shu’aibu Musa, a wanted armed robbery suspect, the statement said, was also arrested in connection with the camel theft, and a stolen camel was recovered from him, adding that he had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for thorough investigation and prosecution.
In a related development, the police also arrested a suspected phone thief, Abdullahi Isyaku (20), and a receiver of stolen phones, Nasir Saleh (30), in Sundimina town.
The statement explained that the suspects stole an Infinix Smart 10, a Tecno Camon 19, an Itel keyboard phone and N20,000 in cash. The phones were sold for N61,000, indicating that the suspects have been arraigned in court and the investigation has been completed.
The police spokesperson affirmed that public support through timely and credible information remains vital in the fight against crime, urging state residents to redouble their efforts in this regard.
