The Kano State Police Command has arrested four suspects in relation to Sunday's disturbance at the residence of the Kofar Kudu Palace of the 16th emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
The spokesman for the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, who confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, said the suspects are currently in custody and under investigation.
He revealed that Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has established a panel to investigate the incident and identify all those involved.
According to Haruna, the arrests were made after the attack linked to the supporters of the deposed emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, who allegedly attacked the door of the palace and interrupted public peace.
While the details of the suspects have not been published, the police assured that the efforts are ongoing to detain other people related to violence.
“We are seriously dealing with the matter. The investigation is ongoing and can follow more arrests,” said the police spokesman.
The command also urged residents to keep calm and cooperate with the application of the law as the situation is handled to avoid greater escalation.
