Police in Niger have arrested ten suspects in connection with armed robbery, thugs, possession of dangerous weapons and livestock theft in various parts of the state.
The Command Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said in a statement that the suspects were arrested during separate operations conducted by police surveillance teams and officers attached to the Tudun-Wada Division and Minna Police Central Division.
He explained that two suspects, Habibu Isyaku, 20, and Musa Yakubu, 18, were intercepted by the police on a motorcycle around Western Bye-Pass on November 17, 2025.
According to him, a locally made weapon was recovered from them and they could not give a satisfactory explanation about themselves.
The suspects have been charged in court with criminal conspiracy, thuggery and possession of dangerous weapons and illicit substances.
Abiodun also stated that in another development, five suspects were arrested in a sting operation in some identified black spots around Sayako, Tudun-Natsira, Abdul Salam Qtrs and Baida on November 14, 2025.
The suspects include Abdullahi Sani, 27, Mohammed Inuwa, 21, Abbas Yahaya, 25, Abdulrahman Ismail, 29, and Mohammed Abubakar, 28, were arrested with suspected cannabis, a sharp knife, a long saw blade and illicit substances.
The PRO further revealed that three suspects were arrested for receiving and selling livestock suspected of theft/theft.
Among them, Naziru Mustapha, 25, Husseini Abubakar, 30, and Kabiru Magaji, 40, were arrested in connection with cow theft in Ibeto area of Magama LGA.
“Eight cows were recovered from them and efforts are underway to arrest two other suspects, Bashar Sani and Ibrahim Tasiu, who are currently at large.”
“Police continue their investigation to identify other recipients and recover other stolen cattle,” he added.
