Police arrest three known drug traffickers in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command arrested three notorious drug traffickers during coordinated raids led by intelligence services across the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, confirmed the arrests in a statement sent to reporters.

He said the operations, carried out on October 18, 2025, led to the capture of suspects who had long been on the police radar for their involvement in the distribution of illicit substances within Jigawa State and beyond.

SP Shiisu explained that during the raids, officers recovered a variety of illicit drugs.

The items recovered included Exol (13,505), D5 (1,583), Tramadol (3,572), Diazepam (565), Rubber Solution (2,469), Cannabis Block (Indian Hemp) and 886 wrappers, Suck and Die, Akuskura, Farin Malam (340) and other hard drugs and assorted toxic substances (1,042).

The arrested suspects were identified as Muhammad Garba, Musa Garba and Hudu Ma’ilu, all from Guneri Village, Malamawa District, Niger Republic.

He stated that the suspects are currently detained and undergoing thorough investigation and will be charged to court once preliminary investigations are concluded.

The Commissioner of Police praised the brave efforts of the officers involved and reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance stance against drug-related crime.

He also urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement by providing timely and credible information to assist in the identification and arrest of criminal elements.
