Nigerian Police and hunters have arrested three suspected kidnappers and armed robbers along the Asaba-Benin Highway, next to the Dustbin Mango tree area of Delta State.
The suspects include 25-year-old Oghenemaro Martins, 22-year-old Tarebi Miracle Ogbada, and 19-year-old Okorie James Kalu.
They were arrested during an exchange of fire on November 23, 2025, around 0630 hours, Newslodge reports.
The police also recovered from the suspects one (1) English-made Beretta pistol, one (1) locally-made pistol, four (4) Beretta 9mm ammunition, one (1) HP laptop, one (1) iPhone S, one (1) Tecno phone, one (1) Samsung phone, one (1) PS5 gaming console, two (2) necklaces and one (1) laptop charger.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the report in a statement sent to our correspondent in Warri.
The creator of Police Image said: “On 23 November 2025, at about 0630 hours, responding to a distress call relating to a robbery incident along the Asaba-Benin Highway in the Dustbin/Mango Tree area, the Commander of the Eagle Net Special Squad, SP Danyaya Inusa, quickly mobilized surveillance teams of the squad in a coordinated operation with operatives of the Nigerian Forest Security Service and Hunters, led by DSP Abu Joshua, to the reported scene.”
According to him, “upon their arrival, the criminal gang ambushed the agents with sporadic shots.
“The team, undeterred, responded with controlled precision, overpowering the assailants and forcing them into a disorganized retreat.
“A fierce chase ensued which led to the arrest of the following suspects: Oghenemaro Martins, 25, Tarebi Miracle Ogbada, 22, and Okorie James Kalu, 19.
“During the chase, the fleeing suspects abandoned a black bag, which officers recovered.
“The contents of the bag directly linked the suspects to the robbery scene and their broader criminal operations.
“The items recovered include: one (1) English-made Beretta pistol, one (1) locally-made pistol, four (4) real Beretta 9mm ammunition, one (1) HP laptop, one (1) iPhone S, one (1) Tecno phone, one (1) Samsung phone, one (1) PS5 gaming console, two (2) necklaces, one (1) laptop charger.
“The presence of firearms and ammunition confirms the gang’s readiness for armed confrontation, while a variety of electronic devices, jewelery and the PS5 console matched the descriptions previously provided by multiple victims robbed at gunpoint in the Okpanam-Asaba axis.
“Subsequently, the identification chain has established a direct link between the recovered items, the arrested suspects and the series of armed robberies under investigation.”
SP Edafe noted that the suspects remain detained while the investigation continues.
