The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of a Benue Links commercial bus and the kidnapping of its passengers for alleged gunmen along the Otukpo-Outukpa highway on Sunday night.
In a statement published on Monday morning, the Police Public Relations officer (PPRO), Edet Udeme, said the incident involved a Hummer bus with the 14B-143B registration number, which was found abandoned by the road in UGBOKOLO, area of ​​the local government of Okpokwu.
“Upon receiving the anguish information, the police tactical teams, in collaboration with the military and the voluntary guards of the state community of Benue, quickly mobilized to the scene,” said the PPRO.
During the surrounding forest hairstyle, the team rescued one of the victims, identified as Paul Trns, who managed to escape the abductors.
The PPRO said that additional reinforcements have been implemented in the area to intensify the search for the remaining passengers and guarantee their safe performance.
The police command urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with ongoing investigations.
