Police confirms the release of 17 victims of kidnapping in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police command confirmed the release of 17 kidnapped victims, including 14 women and three men, who had been captive for several months.

The victims were among those kidnapped on June 19 in the village of Birdigau in the Kankara local government area of ​​the state of Katsina.

According to police sources, the victims regained their freedom on Friday around 8:30 am after the coordinated efforts of security agents in the area.

Police officers were immediately deployed at the place where the victims were found and evacuated them to the Specialist Hospital Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura in Gusau for a medical examination under tense security.

The president of the Local Government area of ​​Gusau, Abubakar Imam, supervised his evacuation and medical evaluation.

The authorities said the victims would meet with their families in the state of Katsina after completing medical checks.
