The Nigerian Police have launched an investigation into a viral video featuring social media influencer Martins 'VeryDarkMan'. In the video he is seen wearing the police uniform.

In the video posted on his Instagram page on Saturday, VeryDarkMan donned a police uniform and referred to himself as the Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) of an “online division”.

He said Nigerians should not describe him as an activist, saying his dedication is to clean up the social media space, fight injustice and hold online providers accountable.

VeryDarkMan expressed its commitment to using its unorthodox approach to fight injustice, dishonesty, and shady business practices.

He commended the police for their fight against corruption and urged Nigerians to join the ongoing battle to rid the nation of corruption.

He said: “My name is CSP VeryDarkMan from the online division, the Nigerian online police number. I am not an activist; Please stop calling me an activist because, like everyone else, I am dedicated to sanitizing the social media space by using my platform to confront people who abuse power, oppressors, and especially my favorite customers, the online sellers who They collected money from customers and will not deliver the goods or anything that is agreed upon.

“I am one hundred percent opposed to them, therefore I defend the victims, recover their money and oppose general oppression in society. This job is not easy and many people complain about my approach and how I do it, saying that I am rude and disrespectful. Still, you cannot fight for Nigeria with respect, and that is why I am disrespectful. “I will not change and I will disrespect many bad eggs in society.”

VeryDarkMan also explained how he performs his tasks.

“Unlike regular police, we have a society that goes through a lot of procedures and protocols, but I won't do that because immediately they bring me any evidence against them (the bad eggs), I will get up and spoil them. names because I love spoiling people and I don't care about their position in society, so far there is evidence against them. That's why it's better to be good and not fall into my trap.

“So how do I do this job? When they bring me evidence, I will post it online, write a petition with my money and take it to the police; I think the police are a body dedicated to fighting corruption, that's why they do it offline. I will do mine online because I have the platform,” he said.

He described himself as a patriotic Nigerian who refuses to allow injustice, corruption and other social ills to prevail in the country.

“For the people who said VeryDarkMan sold his integrity, he now goes online to talk about social righteousness, and just because I sell mine doesn't mean the next generation will sell theirs. To those people who say they will set me up if they come for me, they are the victim, and if I come for them, they are the victims.”

In response to the viral video, police condemned VeryDarkMan's unauthorized use of their uniforms and accoutrements.

The police, in a statement posted on their social media, announced that they would investigate to determine the source of the police equipment used and the authority under which VeryDarkMan acted.

“The force unequivocally disassociates itself from this unauthorized representation and has launched a full investigation to determine the origin of the police equipment used and the authority under which it acted.
