Nigerian socialite and music promoter Samson Eletu, popularly known as Sam Larry, has made his first public appearance since surviving a recent car accident, putting to rest widespread rumors that he had died or suffered an amputation.
A trending video circulating on social media on Saturday showed Sam Larry celebrating with his associates, looking alert and in stable condition. The images have generated thousands of reactions, with many expressing relief at his recovery.
The video emerged days after unverified claims circulated online alleging that the music promoter had died following the road accident, while other social media posts also claimed that he had suffered an amputation.
His public appearance appears to have dispelled speculation about his condition.
Earlier, his partner, Akin Abolade, popularly known as Mr. Lilgaga, dismissed the death rumours.
A few days after the accident, Lilgaga said: “Yes, he is alive and not dead, but his condition cannot be determined due to the severity of the accident. We spoke after the accident. He is alive and I am sure of it.”
Sam Larry remains a controversial figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry since the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, in September 2023.
He came under intense public scrutiny after videos emerged showing confrontations involving the late singer before his death. The reaction led to calls for an investigation and police subsequently questioned him as part of the investigation.
Although his name featured prominently in public discussions surrounding the case, investigators maintained that the investigation would be guided by the available evidence, while Sam Larry consistently denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death.
