The Cross River State Police command has arrested a young woman named MS Arit Etim Ukorebi, accused of stealing ₦ 16 million of her employer, d’Fun Enterprise in Ikom.
According to the reports, Ukorebi was arrested last week after a complaint from his employer, identified as Mrs. Funke, the company’s owner.
According to reports, the police have discovered that Ukorebi accesses their family members or lawyers.

In reaction, an NGO, the network of citizens solutions has presented a petition dated September 6, 2025 to the State Police Commissioner, frowning against family members and lawyers.
The organization has requested an investigation on the matter while demanding that the fundamental human rights of the accused be respected.

The director of the Network country that signed the petition, Mr. Richard Inoyo claimed that police staff at the Okuni Police Station in Ikom, who arrested the suspect, denied the young woman that young access to her family since her arrest on Friday.
The group emphasized that investigations must be carried out within the provisions of the law, warning against torture, intimidate or violate any of their fundamental rights.
“We are asking that the young woman not be tortured or brutalized in the name of the investigation.
“We are asking the police leadership to ask the staff at the Okuni Police Station to defend the 2017 Torture Law,” he said part of the petition.
The organization urged the Police Commissioner to ensure that the case of Mrs. Ukorebi was handled in line with due process.
Neither the PC nor its officials responded to the calls on the detention of UKorebi.
