Officers of the Delta State Police Command on joint stop and search duties with Bomadi Vigilante along the Bomadi-Tuomo road arrested a 62-year-old woman, Charter Timide, with a sack containing 178 live cartridges carefully packaged for delivery.
The suspect was arrested on October 30, 2025, around 12:30 p.m.
This was revealed by the Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police, SP Bright Edafe, in a statement on Friday.
The statement read: “On 30 October 2025, at around 12.30 pm, officers of the Bomadi Division, under the command of DPO, CSP Adie Peter Bissong, while on a joint stop and search operation with Bomadi Vigilante, intercepted a motorcycle along the Bomadi-Tuomo road.
“The cyclist, who appeared uncomfortable, was carrying a 62-year-old woman, later identified as Charter Timide, to the Tuomo community.
“After an extensive search, officers discovered a hidden bag containing 178 live cartridges carefully packaged for delivery.
“When questioned, the suspect admitted to having purchased the cartridges at the main market in Onitsha, a center long known for its bustling trade.
“His confession immediately triggered further intelligence follow-up to discover the destination and purpose of the munitions.
“The suspected and recovered evidence has been transferred to the State Command Headquarters for discreet investigation and to trace possible links to armed groups or black market suppliers.”
