Operation Hadin Kai troops neutralized a suspected ISWAP fighter during an ambush operation in the Kirawa area of Borno State.
The operation, carried out on Thursday night along the Gakara-Kirawa axis, was carried out in collaboration with hybrid forces and members of the civil joint task force (CJTF).
Security expert Zagazola Makama revealed the development in his X handle, stating that troops intercepted insurgents believed to be part of a logistics supply team.
According to a military source cited by Makama, the soldiers opened fire on the terrorists, killing one of them while others escaped with possible gunshot wounds.
Items recovered from the scene included two bicycles, three bags of semovita, 200 sachets of salt, 19 wrappers and 11 bottles of energy drink, believed to be supplies intended for insurgent hideouts.
The source added that no soldiers or civilians were injured during the encounter.
Makama noted that the Nigerian military has recently intensified its offensive operations in the Timbuktu Triangle and on the banks of Lake Chad to block terrorists’ logistical routes and restrict their movements.
