Troops of the Joint Task Force’s Operation LASTING PEACE have raided the hideout of a notorious bandit at Rawaya village, near Kazok in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of ​​Plateau State, recovering a cache of arms and ammunition.
Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, media information officer of Operation LASTING PEACE, revealed this in a statement, noting that the operation followed credible intelligence reports about the stockpiling of weapons by bandits in Barkin Ladi.
According to the statement, the suspect fled as troops advanced toward the scene. An extensive search of the hideout led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, one revolver pistol, four AK-47 rifle magazines, three G3 rifle magazines, 1,198 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition (Special), four rounds of 7.62mm ammunition (NATO), three mobile phones and other miscellaneous items.
The statement added that the recovered items are currently in custody for further action, while efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect and his accomplices.
“Operation LASTING PEACE will remain decisive in its attack against criminal elements, while efforts will also be sustained to keep the Joint Operations Area secure,” the statement said.
