Troops of Operation HADIN KAI repelled an ambush attempt by ISWAP fighters near Wakilti village in Borno State.
According to a Monday post by security expert Zagazola Makama in X, troops also recovered two motorcycles and an AK-47 rifle from the fleeing terrorists.
“The encounter occurred on Monday around 1:30 pm, when troops from the 145 Battalion (Main) on the Main Supply Route (MSR) patrolling and conducting picketing, operating in conjunction with Keystone agents and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), came into contact with the insurgents around Wakilti.” Makama revealed.
A source cited by Makama said the troops engaged the terrorists in an intense firefight, forcing them to retreat in disarray after coming under superior firepower.
“During the exploration of the site, troops recovered two motorcycles and an AK-47 rifle equipped with a magazine. The number of enemy casualties is yet to be confirmed,” the source said.
Makama further revealed that no casualties were recorded on the troops’ side.
