Two brothers suspected of belonging to a terrorist group have abandoned their activities and surrendered to troops of the 25 Brigade, Operation Hadin Kai, in Damboa Local Government Area of ​​Borno State.
The brothers, identified as Mustapha Tijani, 27, and Malayi Tijani, 18, turned themselves in around 3:30 p.m. on September 2, 2026.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the surrender followed recent cordon and search operations at an internally displaced persons camp in Damboa city.
Makama said the 25 Brigade commander had also appealed to residents to encourage family members involved in terrorist activities to renounce them and surrender to the authorities.

Preliminary interrogation reportedly showed that Mustapha and Malayi are biological brothers.
His elder brother, Mallam Modu Tijani, was also said to have previously renounced terrorism and is currently residing in the Unity IDP camp in Damboa.
“The two suspects are currently in the custody of troops for further investigation and appropriate measures,” the report states.
