President Muhammadu Buhari mourns journalist, poet, author and sports administrator Otunba Eddie Aderinokun, who passed away on January 3, 2021 at age 80.
The president salutes Aderinokun’s more than 60 years of vibrant journalistic practice, which saw him rise to the editorial leadership of the then reputable Daily Express newspaper, and his contribution to literature through many books, particularly on poetry.
“His footprints in sports development are also unforgettable, particularly in volleyball, where he made his mark as president of the Nigerian Volleyball Federation with great success,” says President Buhari.

The President commends the fact that Aderinokun, as President of the Nigerian League of Veteran Journalists, shared his wealth of experience and guided younger professionals on the path of ethics and good conduct, adding that this would all be recorded by your favor for posterity.
He expresses his condolences to family, friends, the media and the sports fraternity, urging them to strive to keep the memory of Otunba Aderinokun alive.
