The Yobe State Police command said that its operations have caught five tricycles in relation to violation and robbery.
The public relations officer of the command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, revealed this in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday in Damaturu.
According to the statement, arrests mark a significant milestone in the fight against crime in the State.
“On May 10, 2025, a 12 -year -old girl was supposedly raped by Idriss Yakubu, 25, a commercial tricycle of the Shangge village through Fune Lga.
“According to the reports, the suspect attracted the victim to the mountain and raped her strongly. To the arrest, the suspect confessed the crime during the police interrogation.
“In a separate incident, four suspects were arrested by the headquarters of the Divisional Police of 'A' for criminal conspiracy, theft and related vices.
“The suspects, identified as Abubakar Barnawa, 28; Mohd Modu, 20; Umar Mustapha, 18; and Musa Hassan, 19, allegedly used a tricycle with a falsified registration number to hide their identity and evade arrest.
“They were arrested after a quick response to the fraud report of a merchant,” said the statement.
As the investigation is ongoing, the State Police Commissioner Emmanuel Ado, frowned with these disastrous acts and urged community members to inform any unscrupulous element between commercial drivers and tricycles to the police.
He assured the public that the command is committed to ensuring that justice is served and that all unpleasant acts against the community will face strong resistance.
The command also urged citizens to report any form of abuse or crime to the police and assured the public their commitment to protect lives and properties.
