There was a sad incident involving an 80-year-old lady named Mariam Salako, who died in a fire accident. This happened in a place called Ifelodun Agoka in Abeokuta.

Omolola Odutola, a spokesperson for the police in Ogun State, explained that the fire started very early in the morning, around 1:00 am on a Saturday.

She said that while Mariam, the old lady who lived in the house, could not make it out, there was another person in the house, named Baba Ali. No one knows how old Baba Ali is, but local neighbors helped him out through a window and saved him.

We still do not know what started the fire, but the firefighters from Ogun State came quickly, which helped stop the fire from spreading too much.

Omolola Odutola shared that, “At about 1:00 am, a call for help came in about a house on fire at No. 28 Ifelodun Agoka area in Abeokuta.”

“Right away, a group of police officers went to the location, and they also called the fire department for help. The firefighters from Ogun State came fast and were able to control the fire,” she added.

“Sadly, Mariam Salako, the 80-year-old lady living in the house, did not survive the fire,” Odutola went on to say. She also mentioned that Mariam’s body has been taken to the mortuary.
