Two men have been arrested by the Police for destroying electricity transformer and cables in Yusufari LGA of the state of Yobe.
This was revealed in a statement issued by the Public Relations officer of the Yobe State Police Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, Sunday.
According to the statement, the suspects were arrested based on credible information and during the interrogation, they confessed the crime.
“The Yusufari Division Police headquarters has arrested two suspects, Kabiru Ibrahim, 23, by Sabon Garin Gashu, and Abubakar Abubakar, 24, from Bade LGA, to dismantle components and cables of transformers, causing severe damage in the Sunomari area of ​​the city of Yusufari.
“The investigation is underway for subsequent prosecution,” said the PPRO.
The police commissioner, CP, Emmanuel Ado, condemned acts of vandalism and urged residents to allow the law to take their course every time they apprehend the suspects.
He was reacting to the attempts of Yusufari’s youth to lynch the suspects and set fire to his motorcycle.
The CP emphasized that the command will not tolerate the action of the mafia and ensure that justice is delivered through due process.
“Always report suspicious activities to the police station or closer security training in their areas,” residents appealed.
