The IMO State Police command, in its resolution to end the activities related to the cult in the state, has evicted the basis of a cultist in Okwu Uratta, Owerri North Lga, recovered weapons of arms locally and arrested a 26 -year -old man suspected of being a member of a cult group.
A press release issued by the spokesman for the command, DSP Henry Okoye, declared that the operation was carried out by the divisional police officer in charge of the Orji division, Owerri North Lga, while he was in a surveillance operation with his team.
According to police spokesman, the operation was based on credible intelligence that led to the arrest of an Ngor-Okpala Lga Anunobi, who was found in possession of a revolver gun made locally, a Beretta pistol manufactured locally and three rounds of live ammunition.
Okoye explained that, when interrogated, the suspect confessed to being a member of a cult group known as the Neo Black movement, also called Black Ax, and is currently cooperating with ongoing investigations.
He added that efforts are being made to stop other members fleeing the cult group, particularly those responsible for the manufacture and supply of locally made firearms.

“The CP urges public members to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information while warning the cultists and other criminal elements to give up their illegal activities or face the total weight of the law,” said the press release.
