The Zonal Directorate of Maiduguri of the Commission of Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) has prosecuted Mustapha Ibn Mustopha before Judge Aisha Kumaliya of the Superior Court of the State of Borno, Maiduguri, for an alleged land fraud.
Mustapha was docked on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, for a charge of three positions that borders the money for false claims and criminal conspiracy for a sum of N5,555,000.00 (five million, five hundred fifty -five thousand naira).
One of the positions says: “That you, Mustapha Ibn Mustopha and Mohammed Habib Alkali (also known as Shettima) (now in general), in August 2024 or around August of 2024 in Maiduguri, state of Born, within the jurisdiction of this honorable court, with the attemp of his grace Marcel.
The defendant declared himself innocent of all the positions.
The defense lawyer, so Saka prayed to the court for a trial date and requested that the defendant be sent in a correctional center.
Judge Kumaliya postponed the matter until September 23, 2025, for an hearing and ordered the return of the accused.
The investigations revealed that Mustapha allegedly sold land plots owned by the government located behind the State University of Borno, Konduga, to the petitioner, but could not deliver the property. The victim’s efforts to recover his money were not successful, which caused the intervention of the EFCC.
