The Niger State Police Command has arrested 12 suspects allegedly for criminal conspiracy, violation of trust, mischief and vandalism of the navigation of metal strand and beams of the Kainji energy plant in Kaya Juncion worth N2. 8 billion.
According to the Police Public Relations officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the suspects, both employed at the Energy Plant, were arrested after a complaint from Mainstream Energy Solutions Ltd. on August 12, 2025, and were transferred from the division of Nuevo Busa to the Minna Scid.
He said that the reports indicate that in July 2025, the inspection was carried out in the navigation blockade of the Kainji energy plant in Kaya Junction, where it was discovered that some metals and navigation beams valued on N4.8 billion
They were destroyed and stolen by unknown people
The professional revealed that this discovery led to the arrest of two suspects that are safety supervisors of the energy plant and were transferred to Scid Minna.
The two suspects include
Shaibu Abu Sufyan 35 years of New-Bussa and Brahim Musa 31 years of the same direction.
Abiodun revealed that the SCID agents led by DSP Ahmed Saidu began additional investigation, and Abu Sufyan, who initially denied the alleged crime, later confessed when he faced the facts.
His confession led to the arrest of other perpetrators that include Ibrahim Muse, Zayyanu Musa, Jibrin Abdullahi, Hassan Musa, Micah Adamu, Attahiru Umar, Abdulrahman Usman, Ismaila Ibrahim, Mubarak Husseini, Adamu Abubakar, Abdullahi Abubakar Aka Aka Aka Aka Zuma Security Stail.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, together with other safety personnel and waste dealers, conspired to steal metals and sell them to several companies in the states of Lagos, Kwara and Osun.
The investigation also discovered more than ₦ 12.5 million in transactions between Sufyan and the Musa Khalid scrap dealer, and more than ₦ 11.5 million in transactions between Musa and Khalid, ”he said.
The police spokesman also said that they generally moved to the place with acetylene gas mainly during the weekends of the night, the metals destroyed, cut into sizes and used a crane to load it into gallon trucks that has been happening since 2023 – 2025.
Meanwhile, he added that the investigation is ongoing to arrest others, such as scrap dealers and other collaborators.
“The additional development will definitely be made public as the investigation progresses,” said the police.
