Officers of the Adamawa State Police Command on Thursday took over the case of a kidnapped victim, Abdullahi Usman, a resident of Unguwan Abuja in Viniklang, a community in Girei Local Government Area near the capital Yola, who was discovered tied up in the bush.
“The rescue followed a distress call received from one Adamu Shugaba, who promptly reported hearing someone moaning inside an unfinished building in Jabbore, Viniklang,” the command explained in a statement issued on Friday night by its public relations officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje.
According to the statement, Shugaba found the victim tied with a piece of cloth on both hands and legs.
“Acting quickly, the Command deployed the divisional police officer, Viniklang, and a team of officers to the scene. The victim was rescued unharmed and rushed to hospital for medical examination,” Nguroje said.
He added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, commended the officers for their prompt response and directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command to take up the case and ensure the arrest of the perpetrators.
