Unknown gunmen, suspected to be bandits, have again attacked a community in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, killing four people and stealing livestock.

The recent attack comes barely a week after gunmen invaded Kasuwan Deji in the same local government area, killing 42 people.

The latest incident occurred around 11pm on Friday in Wawa, after the villagers had gone to bed.

Newslodge reports that the community is a mining area (Wawa) that has been operating illegally for some time without ceasing.

Let us remember that Kainji Park had been the hideout of the bandits in recent months where they had been operating at will without ceasing.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Borgu Local Government Area, Mallam Abdullahi Mohammed Nasiru, said his council is under siege by terrorists.

“I ask for help and renew the call for security patrols to be intensified around the communities that are under attack,” he said.
