The Kano State Police Command arrested three persons and recovered weapons following a clash between rival gangs at Kabara and Magashi Quarters, Kano, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at about 10:53 p.m.
The fight, allegedly led by Usaini Noni of Kabara Quarters and Umar Tautau of Magashi Quarters, caused panic among residents and left one person dead.
The deceased was identified as Adam Badamasi, also known as “Choli”, while two others, Ahmed Basiru and Akilu Usman, were injured.
A statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said: “Upon receiving the report, combined teams of police officers quickly responded to the incident and were met with a noisy scene with members of various vigilante groups.”
The area was cordoned off and the arrested suspects were identified as Bazallahi Umar, 20, Abdullahi Umar, 20, and Abubakar Sani, 23.
The injured were taken to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where one of them was confirmed dead. Police maintained operations in the area until order was restored.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has ordered a discreet investigation to ensure that the culprits are brought to justice.
Police also urged residents to provide information immediately to help protect lives and property.
