Cholera Outbreak in Adamawa: 4 Dead, 36 Hospitalized

Four people have died from cholera in Adamawa State, and 36 others are being treated in hospitals.

Mr. Jibrin Ibrahim, the Chairman of Yola-North Local Government Area, told reporters about this during his visit to the Infectious Disease Centre, IDC, in Yola on Sunday.

He said the cholera outbreak happened in Alkalawa, Ajiya, and Limawa areas.

“In the morning, there were 20 reported cases, but now there are over 40 cases, and sadly, four people have died,” he said.

“Many of those affected are now better as health workers have been taking care of them,” he added.

Ibrahim thanked the health workers, the Red Cross, and international partners for their quick help.

He believes the outbreak might be because of dirty water coming from floods in some areas.
