A 23-year-old man, Amontrum Daniel, was ordered remanded in custody by an Osun magistrates court on Ile-Ife on Wednesday for alleged shoplifting and trespassing.
Osanyintuyi said that the defendant broke into Adeyinka Fadekemi’s shop with the intention of committing a felony.
He added that the defendant stole half a bag of rice, half a bag of Garri, 12 Red Label, 12 pieces of Smirnoff Vodka, 10 Fearless drink packs and 5 Realtor packs.
Other allegedly stolen items are 15 packs of Petmalt, 2 packs of Dongola, 10 boxes of 7up, one pack of Jameson, 6 yards of Ankara materials, all valued at N279,500, owned by Adeyinka Fadekemi.
According to him, the defendant behaved in a way that was likely to cause a breakdown of law and order in the Falolu area by raiding Adeyinka Fadekemi’s shop.
Osanyintuyi further explained that the defendant stole different types of wine and beverages worth N279,000 that belonged to Adeyinka Fadekemi.
He told the court that the offense contravened the Penal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, who did not have legal representation, pleaded guilty to count one of trespassing and not guilty to counts two and three of robbery and disorderly conduct.
Magistrate Abosede Sarumi ordered the defendant remanded in Ile-Ife Nigerian Correctional Custody.
Sarumi adjourned the case until July 5 for hearing.
