Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed after separate fires devastated a church and an oil station in Oyo State.
Newslodge reported that the church was destroyed by fire on Thursday, while the gas station was razed to the ground on Wednesday.
Our correspondent reports that the church is located in Ilora.
It was learned that the fire in the church was caused by an electrical failure of the devices that caused the fire.
Some property was damaged in the incident, but no lives were lost.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident.
He said: “Upon arrival, the church was completely ablaze and filled with smoke. The fire crew quickly swung into action and the fire was prevented from spreading to nearby buildings and properties. No casualties were reported.”
Newslodge also reported that the oil station is located along the old Ogbomoso/Ilorin road.
Properties worth millions of naira were destroyed during the incident.
Akinwande also confirmed the fire at the gas station.
He said: “On arrival we found a vandalized workshop, cracked walls, a damaged POP roof and destroyed roof sheets.
“No one was affected by the explosion and a post-incident investigation is underway to determine the root cause of the incident.”
