Several soldiers are feared dead and others injured after Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters attacked a military base in Ngamdu, Borno State, early Friday morning.
Reports say that the terrorists stormed the Ngamdu military camp around 2 am and started shooting at the soldiers on duty.
Following the attack, the army reportedly closed the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway, leaving many travelers and motorists stranded.
The insurgents reportedly carried out a late night assault on the Ngamdu military camp, causing casualties among the troops.
Some of the injured soldiers have been taken by ambulance to Yobe State Teaching Hospital in Damaturu for treatment.
