In a dramatic turn of the events in Kano, the families of the young couple who recently made a secret wedding without the parents now agreed to a new formal ceremony in line with the Islamic teachings.
The advance occurred after Fatima's father authorized the local commander of the Junta de Hisbah in Municipal Kano to act as his tutor (Waliyyi) for the renewed marriage process.
This decision followed an initiative of the residents of Yakasai, the community where the initial incident took place, which joined to increase the price of the ₦ 150,000 girlfriend.
The funds were deposited in the official story of the Board Hisbah, which will now supervise and officiate the new marriage according to Islamic rites.
Yusif Garba, a key figure in the coordination of the bride's prices collection, said that the community was forced to support the young couple, who had acted by naivety. He emphasized the importance of guiding such young people instead of condemning them.
Confirming the development, Ustaz Hamidan Tanko Alasaka, Hisbah's chief commander for Municipal Kano, said the preparations are now underway for the new wedding.
He said that the price of the ₦ 150,000 bride has been paid in its entirety and that the wedding will take place soon, this time with full fulfillment of religious and cultural expectations.
Daily Post had previously informed about how the Hisbah Board dissolved the 22 -year -old boyfriend and the 16 -year -old girlfriend after friends officiated her wedding without her parents' consent.
