The Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Josiah Majebi, has told law students they need to be honest if they want to succeed as lawyers.

Justice Majebi spoke on Monday when he met with law students for a goodbye session at the judiciary headquarters in Lokoja. The students had finished their five-week training program in court.

Other judges were also there with Justice Majebi. They reminded the students about the importance of being professional, dressing properly, and behaving well. They said that society respects and values lawyers who follow their profession’s rules.

Justice Abdul Awulu praised the students for being eager to learn how legal proceedings work.

Hon. Justice Angelina Salihu talked about the ethical problems that lawyers face each day. “We emphasized the importance of being truthful and ethical in our courts. I must commend you students for how you handled legal arguments and managed cases,” she said.

Justice Estu Umar said that having good character is very important in the legal profession. He stressed that being honest and hardworking is key to a successful career in law.

The Chief Registrar of the Court, Jubril Ibrahim, mentioned that the training program had prepared the students for the challenges of being a lawyer.

He thanked the judges for sharing their experience and knowledge with the students, who promised to use what they learned when they start practicing law.

DAILY POST reported that law students from different campuses in Nigeria, including Lagos, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Abuja, and Yola, gathered in Lokoja to complete their five-week externship program.

During this program, the students got practical experience in the judiciary before moving on to work in law firms for more training.
