At least six people have been confirmed dead and two others seriously injured in a traffic accident that occurred in
NASFAT Junction, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The accident involving a Mazda commercial bus and a Volvo truck occurred around 2:36 p.m. on Thursday.
The 18-seater bus was reportedly coming from Lagos when it passed under a truck traveling from Ibadan that was making a U-turn near the NASFAT area.
The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Sector Command, Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta, saying eight persons were involved.
Odunsi-Oyewole attributed the cause of the accident to over-speeding, adding that based on information, FRSC personnel from Mowe Unit, Ibafo Outpost, an ambulance team from Ojota Unit Command, MTD RCCG Police Division and TRACE Mowe division quickly arrived at the scene to rescue the victims.
According to the PRO, before reaching the scene, good Samaritans took some injured people to an unknown hospital, while others were taken to Famobis Hospital in Lotto for medical attention.
He said: “At approximately 2:36 p.m. today, January 1, 2026, a car accident occurred and the frsc rescue team was informed at approximately 2:40 p.m. and the team reported to the scene at approximately 2:50 p.m.

“The accident involved two vehicles, a Mazda commercial bus and a Volvo truck.
Eight people were involved, six (6) died and two (2) were injured.
“The cause of the accident was excessive speed.
“We were told that a good Samaritan took some injured victims to an unknown hospital before the team’s arrival. Some victims were taken to Famobis Hospital in Lotto for medical attention.
“While the corpses were taken to the mogue.”
The FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun State, Corps Commander, Akinwumi Fasakin, has ordered a full investigation into the accident.
