Niger: Suspect of arrest by the police for impersonation, attempted robbery

The Niger State Police command has announced the arrest of Ibrahim Abdullahi by Kubwa, it abuses, to allegedly impersonate a soldier and try to steal two people from his motorcycle in Minna, the state capital.

The Public Relations officer SP Wasiu Abiodun, announced this in Minna.

He said that in September 2025, the allegedly intercepted suspect in Tutungo-Farindaki Road, claiming that he took them to the Army Barracks in Minna.

In this context, the victims gave an alarm, and the suspect was arrested by a police surveillance team and state traffic personnel in the city door area.

“Upon arriving at City Gate, the victims gave alarm while trying to escape with the motorcycle, which attracted the crowd,” he said.

The suspect has been transferred to Scid Minna for greater investigation.

In a separate incident, an alleged motorcycle thief, Augustine Mathew, was arrested in the city of Bangi for stealing a one -day motorcycle of a residence on September 15, 2025.

It is said that police surveillance personnel caught the suspect with the stolen vehicle.

“During the interrogation, he confessed the crime,” Abiodun revealed.

According to him, the suspect has been accused in court.
