The Kano State Police command said that it has successfully arrested 28 alleged thugs throughout the state.
The arrests were made for an exercise of three days, from Saturday, July 12 to Monday, July 14.
Speaking in a statement on Monday, the Kano State Police command described the coordinated effort as a “successful authorization operation.”
“The operation, which was carried out from Saturday 12 to Monday, July 14, 2025 aimed at curbing crimes related to the matrix, was carried out under the auspices of operation Kukan Kura, a community -centered initiative that encourages the active participation of public members in the fight against crime, prevention, management and control,” is said in the statement.
The State Police Commissioner, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, personally directed his operational commanders throughout the year, which concentrated in key areas of Kano's metropolis.
The results, the command said, were significant.
“In particular, the operation showed impressive results of the twenty -eight arrest (28) suspects and the recovery of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs, without reported cases of theft of untened mobile phones registered throughout the state,” added the police spokesman.
Commissioner Bakori praised his officers for his professionalism and unwavering dedication.
He also urged them not to give in their duties as public security protectors.
“The police commissioner praised the officers for their commitment and dedication to duty, accusing them of maintaining the tempo to guarantee the safety of lives and property in the state of Kano,” the statement said.
The declaration also emphasized that the success of the operation reflects the value of the cooperation of the public police and the determination of the Command to respond to the concerns of the community.
“The success of Operation Kukan Kura is a testimony of the resolution of the interacting command with the community and working in collaboration to prevent and control crimes.”
By thanking the residents of their constant support, the force urged them to continue informing any view of strange activities in their locations to the nearest police station.
