Police Arrests Two Suspected Gunrunners in Edo

The Nigerian Police from Zone 5 have caught two men they think were selling guns in Edo State.

DSP Tijani Momoh, a police spokesperson, shared this news on Saturday in Abuja.

He said the top police officer in charge of the Edo and Delta region, Arungwa Nwazue, wanted to collect illegal guns as the Edo state governor election was coming soon.

“Following his orders, on Friday around 5 AM, a special police team led by ASP Mohammed Usman went to Ileh community in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area.

“During this raid, they caught two men they believed were selling guns.

“They found 30 homemade guns with them. These included 23 single-barrel guns and 7 double-barrel guns, plus a double-barrel gun made in England.

“They also found 13 bullets, a big toolbox, and a drill machine used to make the illegal guns.

“When the police asked questions, they discovered the men were selling and renting these guns to kidnappers, robbers, and gang members. These bad people used the guns to scare and hurt the good people of Edo and nearby areas.

“The top police officer wants a deep and thorough investigation. After this, the suspects will go to court to face charges,” Momoh said.

He also asked all good citizens of Edo and Delta to stay alert as they do their daily activities. He urged them to tell the police about any strange behaviors or people around them.
