Police rescue, NAB suspected motorcycle thief in Minna

The Niger State Police Command has rescued and arrested an alleged motorcycle thief that belongs to a union that specializes in snatching motorcycles of being lynching by irracted members of the public in the General Hospital, Minna, the capital of the state of Niger.

The Public Relations officer of the State Police, SP Wasiu Abiodun, announced this in Minna, saying that on May 20, 2025, around 5:30 pm, a call of anguish was received from the area of ​​the General Hospital, Minna, reporting that a mafia almost lynch was an alleged motorcycle thief within the area.

He explained that immediately, a police patrol team from 'A' Division Minna ran to the scene, rescued and arrested a suspect named Basiru Abubakar, 35, from the state of Sokoto.

According to him, during the course of the investigation, it was revealed that the suspect belonged to a motorcycle shoots union, and that he was with another member of the gang that is currently in general.

He declared: “Both approached a motorcycle from the Kure market to a place. They arrested the pilot on the road on the pretext that one of them wanted to see someone.

“Basiru and the pilot waited when the suspect gave the motorcyclist a sweet, which he collected and licked. He dizzy, weak and the suspect took off his motorcycle.”

However, Abiodun revealed that a witness who observed the entire situation suspected dirty game and followed the suspect to a place around the General Hospital before lending an alarm.

The case is under investigation, and the suspect will be accused of courts in due time.
