Property Destroyed, Motorists Stranded as Flood Devastates Ondo Community

Must Read

A big flood happened in Ondo town over the weekend and caused a lot of damage. It destroyed many things like homes and cars, and people are sad because of it.

The flood was because it rained a lot for many hours. The water covered many areas in the town and made it hard for people to get from one place to another.

Some of the places with the most water were Ita-Nla, Lipakala Road, Oluwabamikole, Oke-Odunwo, and many others like Ife Garage and Iranlowo.

Many houses, shops, and cars went under the water. People living there said that the flood could have been prevented if the drainage systems weren’t blocked with trash.

A man named Kunle, who lives in the area, said, “Lots of people, especially those who own shops, are very upset. We are thankful that nobody got hurt or died.”

The government of the state responded by saying they would help people leave the flooded areas quickly to stop more damage from happening.

The government also showed that it cared about the people and their leaders in Ondo City. They promised to put things in place to stop such floods since the weather agency, NIMET, had warned about it.

Oyeniyi Oseni from the Environment Department stated that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa instructed that canals be cleared quickly and anyone building on them must face consequences.
