Seven dead and 14 injured in car accident in Jigawa

Another car accident killed seven people and injured fourteen others in JIgawa State.

Police spokesperson SP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident in a statement issued to Newslodge on Monday.
According to the statement, “the accident occurred on Sunday afternoon on the Chaichai-Ringim highway.

He explained that the accident occurred when two vehicles collided head-on in Yakasawa village, Ringim local government area.

“Seven (7) died while fourteen (14) were admitted to hospital following an accident involving a Golf 3 wagon and a Sienna in the Yakasawa village area of ​​Ringim local government,” he said.

He said the injured have been shifted to Ringim General Hospital and are receiving treatment.

The Police, however, warned road users to avoid dangerous overtaking, overloading and respect traffic rules.

This comes days after the death of around fifty people in different accidents and the overturning of a canoe in Jigawa state.

Residents, however, linked most accidents to drivers overloading passengers and goods.

They asked the relevant authorities to take necessary measures to minimize the problem.
