Three suspected cable thieves have been arrested by officers of the Ogun State Community, Social and Security Guidance Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, in the Ijagun area of ​​Ijebu-Ode.
The suspects, Adeleje Okunuga, 30, Wale Mosadoluwa, 31, and Anifowose Michael, 33, were arrested while heading towards Ijagun area of ​​the state.
The Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, in a statement issued in Abeokuta, said they were detained by the Ijebu Zonal Command Special Squad during a routine patrol in the early hours of Monday.
Ganzallo revealed that during interrogation, one of the suspects allegedly confessed to having participated in the cable theft since 2023, and revealed that an accomplice currently in a correctional facility had ordered him to retrieve tools from a hidden location.
Items recovered from the suspects include a large cutter, pliers, a screwdriver and a motorcycle.
The Corps Commander added that the suspects and recovered evidence had been handed over to the Nigerian Police Force, Igbeba Area Command, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
