Passengers escape death when BRT bus catches fire in Lagos

Passengers on board a Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, vehicle escaped death on Tuesday after the bus was engulfed by fire while in motion on the Mile 12 bridge along Ikorodu Road in Lagos.

Eyewitness accounts indicated that the incident occurred mid-morning, when the large-capacity bus suddenly burst into flames during the journey.

The passengers were said to have disembarked quickly and moved to safety before the fire intensified.

Emergency personnel from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, supported by other rescuers, quickly arrived at the scene and successfully extinguished the fire.

The charred vehicle was later evacuated from the bridge to relieve traffic congestion in the area.

At the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire had not been determined. No injuries or loss of life were reported in the incident.
