At least 12 terrorists have been arrested by the Nigerian army in relation to the alleged acts of terrorism carried out by a separatist faction of the insurgents of Boko Haram known as 'Mahmuda', which according to the reports has occupied the Kainji Lake National Park.
The group, before, supposedly, had mutilated, killed, exploited, terrified and used to the residents of neighboring border communities in the areas of the local government of Baruten and Kaiama of the state of Kwara, as well as the area of ​​the local government of Borgu of the State of Niger.
The General Commander, Division Goc 2, Major General Obinna Unubogu, who recently visited the camps in the areas of the local government of Kaiama and Baruten of the state of Kwara, revealed this on Saturday during a visit to acquire first -hand information about how the officers and men are far away, as well as to receive updates on the ongoing operations.
The GOC revealed that the 12 suspects arrested were collected by the military in several places during his raid in the Kainji Lake National Park and the border communities.
It was said that two of those arrested were confirmed members of the group of armed bandits, while others are supposed accomplices in criminal acts, he said.
“The counterinsurgency operation named 'Park Strike Four' is destined to, among other things, eliminating bandits and eliminating the Kainji Lake National Park of all criminal trends,” he added.
The GOC revealed to the journalists of his team that the officers and the men deployed for the operation do not rest on their oars in their attempt to restore the sanity to the park and rekindle the hopes of the local population.
He said: “Through Raid's operations, the troops have successfully combined a distance of at least 90 kilometers from Kemanji in the Kanji forest, where its firm base is currently located.”
During his trip, the Goc, who said that the mission is already being achieved, added that “both men and officers have managed to evict bandits and other criminal elements.”
After interacting with the troops, General Enubougu also visited the emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Sheu Omar and the head of the Kemanji community, known as Shao'ki, Aliyu Siki-Muhammed, where he raised the hopes of the premises, promoted his moral and restored his confidence.
