The family of the late Mr. Kola, former deputy director (internal audit) of the Nigerian television authority (NTA), Lagos, has gently donated its extensive collection of music of music: compress Vinyl Records, VHS Tapes and Audio Cassettes, to the Copyright Society Society Society Nigeria Ltd/GTE (MCSN) The archival library of society.
The donation was formally presented by one of her daughters, Mrs. Kemi very-Adeniyi, who currently serves as director of content and operations at Lagos State Television (LTV). Speaking in the name of the family, Mrs. Very-Adeniyi declared that the family believes that MCSN, being an institution dedicated to music and musicians, is the most appropriate custodian of the collection. He added that it was the desire of the family that the materials were preserved for the benefit of the generation and younger generations not yet born, instead of getting lost in the elements.
In his response, MCSN Executive (CEO) director, Mr. Mayo Ayilaran, expressed his sincere appreciation to the very family for finding McSn worthy of receiving such a significant and historical musical archive. He assured that the materials will be kept and made accessible to the public to support education, research and historical appreciation of music in Nigeria.

He said, MCSN, as a collective management organization (CMO), remains firmly committed to protecting copyright in the works of Nigerian musicians, both dead and lively. According to the Nigeria copyright law, musical works enjoy protection against copyright throughout the author's life and during seventy (70) years after his death. Consequently, the children and legal assets of such creators have the right to continue receiving royalties and enjoying the fruits of their creative work where these works are exploited or infringed anywhere in the world.
Mr. Ayilaran emphasized MCSN's commitment to safeguard and promote Nigeria's musical heritage and extended an open invitation to other people and families who wish to contribute to society's archive. “As we continue to connect creativity with prosperity, such donations will help preserve the legacies of our musical pioneers,” he said.
