The gunmen have killed about six people, including a woman in communities in the areas of the local government of Bassa and Mangu of the State of Plateau.
Twelve (12) people were also injured and currently receive treatment in several hospitals.
The first attack, according to a source, occurred around the wide community in Bassa Lga, while the second took place in the Gyenbwas Rinji community in the Langui district of Mangu Lga.
The last attacks occurred only one day after four people, including farmers and shepherds, were killed in the Uwok-Ishe community of the Kakkek district of Bassa on their way to the mining sites.
Garba Abdullahi, state president of the GANOH Fulani Development Association (GAFDAN), while confirming the first incident, explained that the victims were declared disappeared around 3 am while they spent cattle, but their corpses were found in the wide community.
According to him, the shepherds grazed when the perpetrators dragged them from the grazing area wide and killed them, adding that they informed the incident to the police and the Safe Haven operation.
In Gyenbwas Rinji, two people, including a woman, were also killed and many burning houses.
It was said that the gunmen had invaded the community in large quantities, firing sporadically, killing a man and a woman, and also burned many houses.
The interim president of Mwaghavul Youth Development (MYM), the Mangu Halle district, Mr. Mangs Fwangkat Isa, while reacing, explained that the violence in Gyenbwas Kasuwa began when the shepherds in the area ambushed three of its members, killing one and hurting two on Sunday night.
The interim president explained: “On Monday, the FOB Command came and begged us. We tried to calm the situation because the young people were angry.
“While trying to calm the situation, the shepherds came out of nowhere and began to shoot. Our young people responded because we could not simply relax while the presence of security was inappropriate.”
He explained that the young people came out with local sticks and cutlery to chase the shepherds, saying that during the incident, two people died, 10 people were injured and currently received medical attention in the general hospitals of Halle and Mangu.
